TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

GAMEFACE International, LLC, FC Revolution, Everton Football Club and USTC would like to invite you to participate in the 1st Annual Everton Cup. The event will be directed by Joe Levan and John Hatt, from the United Sports Training Center.

  HISTORY

Everton has been at the forefront of English football ever since the club was formed in 1878.  Now, in 2008 they are making their presence felt in the U.S.  Come be a part of this revolutionary tournament and begin to experience the Everton Way.

 

 

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

 

1.        The tournament will be played on July 25 – 27, 2008

·         Most games start Friday

·         U-11 to U-13 age groups played at United Sports in Downingtown, PA

·         U9, 10, 14, 15 age groups played in the Reading area

·          Important note the U9-U10 age group will be 8v8 format

 

2.        Tournament Applications must be received by June 18. 2008

 

3.        Entrance Fees are $600 per team for U9-U10, $750 for U11-U15

 

4.        This is a Premier Level Tournament

 

5.        The following age groups will be competing in the tournament:  U09, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15 Boys and Girls.

 

6.        There will be no refunds after your team is accepted to the tournament.  If the tournament is cancelled for any reason, due to inclement weather, there may be a partial refund

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

 
1.        The application must be completed in its entirety online.

        
*The Everton Cup will only accept applications/registrations
that are submitted on line through GOTSOCCER via our website.  All sections of the application/registration must be completed. The information provided in the application is the major basis for invitation decisions by the selection committee.

 

2.       *The Everton Cup is an open tournament and will only accept applications/registrations from USSF, USYSA, US Club, and international FIFA affiliated club, league, select, or association boys and girls teams as defined by the USYSA. The Everton Cup is open to all state, regional, national ODP and Super Y teams. The Everton Cup reserves the right to not select any team whose actions or behavior is deemed not to be in the best interest of youth soccer.   

 
*The entry fee is $600 [USD] for U9-U10 teams, and $750 [USD] for U11-U15 Teams. 

 
*Important note the U9-U10 age group will be 8v8 format


Applications will not be accepted for consideration until the entire entry fee ($600 or $750) is paid. Payment of the entry fee must be received by GAMEFACE International within ten (10) days of submitting the application.

4.        The Application and entry fee must be received by June 18, 2008.

 

5.        All players must be registered to the team applying for participation.

 

6.        A player must be registered to only one team applying for participation.

 

7.        Each team is limited to a roster of eighteen (18) players, 14 player U 9-U10.

 

8.        Teams may use up to six (6) guest players but any team utilizing loaned players is still limited to the 18 player maximum.  Proper Guest Player Forms will be required at Registration along with other required credentials.

 

9.        All teams participating in the tournament will be required to present current USYSA/AYSO Player Passes, Original Validated State Rosters plus two copies, Medical Release form for each player and Validated Permission to Travel (Out of State teams only).  If you are registered with US Club, you will need to present the current US Club Player Passes and Validated US Club Roster.

 

Rules of Play:

 

1.        FIFA Laws of the Game will apply as modified by USYSA and EPYSA as described herein.  Under 9 and 10 will play twenty-five (25) minute halves and under 11 through under 15 age groups will play full length games (U13/14 – 70 minutes & U15 – 80 minutes).

   U09 through U12 will use a ball size of 4.  U13, U14 and U15 will use a ball size of 5. (Semi-Final and Final games tied after regulation will use two equal “Golden Goal” overtime halves.  If a tie still exists after overtime halves in Semi-Final or Final, FIFA Penalty Kick will determine the winner.  Penalty Kicks will immediately follow game. Important note the U9-U10 age group will be 8v8 format and will play full length matches.

 

2.        Half time will be exactly 5 minutes

 

3.        Failure of a team to report within five minutes of a scheduled kick off will be considered to have forfeited the game.

 

4.        Free substitution will be allowed in all age groups.  However, teams may substitute only with referee’s permission and only at the following times (including overtimes):  Prior to a throw-in by the team in possession;  Prior to a goal kick, by either team;  After a goal, by either team;  After an injury on either team when the referee stops play;  At halftime;  On a caution, only the cautioned player may be substituted at the that time.

 

5.        Shin guards are mandatory for all players.  It will be the Referee’s discretion to determine the safety and suitability of player equipment including the wearing of an orthopedic cast or hand brace.

 

6.        All Coaches have total responsibility for the conduct of their players, substitutes, friends and spectators at all times.  Coaching from the sideline (giving direction to one’s own team on points of strategy and position) is permitted, provided:  No mechanical devices are used;  The tone of the voice is instructive and not derogatory;  Each coach or substitute remains within 10 yards on either side of the halfway line;  No coach, substitute, or spectator makes derogatory remarks or gestures to the referees, other coaches, players, substitutes, or spectators;  No coach, substitute, or spectator uses profanity or incites, in any manner, disruptive behavior.

 

7.        A player or coach receiving two cautions (yellow cards) in a single game is considered to have been given an Ejection (red card) for the purposes of awarding points for the Tournament competition.  A player who has been ejected (sent off), will not be replaced.  A player or coach who has been ejected will not return for that game and will not be allowed to participate in the next scheduled game.  A player or coach who is ejected for violent conduct or serious foul play will not be allowed to participate in the next scheduled game.  Any player or coach who assaults a referee will be expelled from the Tournament.

 

8.        If in the opinion of game officials, a game must be suspended for reason the game may be resumed but is subject to being ended not less than five (5) prior to the scheduled start of the next game.  If in the opinion of game officials, a game must be terminated for misconduct of players, bench coaches, or spectators, the offending team could be suspended from further play and forfeits that game and all remaining games.  All previous points earned remain as played.  Additionally, the home league and State Association will be contacted as appropriate.

 

9.        Delays of the game due to injury will result in appropriate time being added to the full game time, based on the judgment of the referee.  However, all preliminary games will be terminated not less than five (5) minutes prior to the scheduled start of the next game.

 

 

TOURNAMENT COMPETITION:

 

1.        The Home Team will be the team which appears first on the game schedule.  The Home Team will supply the game ball, unless supplied by the Tournament.  The game ball will be subject to Referee approval.  The Home Team will be required to switch to alternate jerseys to accommodate a color conflict as declared by the referee.  If the Home Team cannot supply alternate jerseys, the Visitor Team will change.  The Home Team should be on the Left Bench when facing the field.  Teams are on the SAME SIDE.  Spectators are opposite the bench areas.

 

2.        DETERMINING WINNERS:  Teams will be awarded points on the following basis:

                Six (6) points for each Win

                Three (3) points for each Tie

                Zero (0) points for each Loss

One (1) point for each goal scored up to a maximum of three (3) per game.

                One (1) point for each shutout

MINUS ONE (-1) FOR EACH PLAYER OR COACH EJECTED

A 0-0 tie will be scored as 4 points for each team (3 for tie, 1 for shutout)

 

In the event of a tie in points at the end of bracket play, the winner for advancement to Semi-Final will be determined as follows:

1.        The winner in head to head competition.

2.        Fewest goals against.

3.        Goal differential, maximum of 3 per game (Team wins 4-0, only gets 3 points)

4.        Most total wins.

5.        Most shut outs.

If a tie still exists after steps 1 through 5, FIFA Kicks from the Penalty Mark will be taken fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled start of the Semi-Final game.

 

3.         Teams failing to report ready to play within five minutes of the scheduled kick off time.  Teams failing to check in at the Mandatory Registration or for taking actions, which cause a game to be terminated, will forfeit the game(s) 1-0.  The winner will be awarded eight points (six for the win, one for a goal, and one for a shut out).

 

4.        NO PROTESTS WILL BE ALLOWED.

 

5.        All disputes will be settled by the Tournament Director or his designee and the decision will be final.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

 

TOURNAMENT PLAY

 

1.        TWELVE TEAM DIVISION will consist of three (3) Brackets of four (4) teams.  Each team will play the others within its Bracket for a total of three (3) preliminary games.  The winner of Bracket A will play the Wildcard Team in Semi-Final Game 1, and the winners of Brackets B and C will play in Semi-Final Game 2.  The Wildcard Team will be the second place team with the most points or tie-breakers.  If the Wildcard Team comes from Bracket A, then the Winner A will play Winner B, and the Winner C will play the Wildcard.  The Semi-Final winners will meet for the Championship.

 

2.        TEN TEAM DIVISION will consist of two (2) Brackets of five (5) teams.  Each team will play the others within its Bracket for a total of four (4) preliminary games.  The winner of Bracket A will play the Winner of Bracket B in the Championship.

 

3.        EIGHT TEAM DIVISION will consist of two (2) Brackets of four (4) teams.  Each team will play the others within its Bracket for a total of three (3) preliminary games.  The winner of Bracket A will play the second place team of Bracket B in the Semi-Final Game 1, and the winner of Bracket B will play the second team of Bracket A in Semi-Final Game 2.  The Semi-Final winners will meet for the Championship.
