U15 Girls Synergy

SYNERGY WIN KEYSTONE CUP!

The U15 Girls Synergy went undefeated to win the Keystone Cup over Labor Day weekend. In the opening game, after falling behind 2-0, the girls battled back to salvage a 2-2 tie vs. the FC York Jaguars. In their second game of the day on Saturday, the team again fell behind, this time 1-0 to the ABGC Fury out of Virginia; but the girls came to life and scored 4 unanswered goals to win 4-1. In the semifinal on Sunday, the team controlled the play in a 3-0 victory over the CPYSC Tigers. The final turned out to be a rematch vs. the FC York Jaguars and the girls jumped to a 2-0 lead, only to relinquish that lead and allow the Jaguars to tie the game 2-2 and send it to penalty kicks. In the penalty kicks phase, the girls were impressive as they converted all 4 penalty kicks they needed to win the championship (4-2 in penalty kicks). Congratulations to the team and best of luck as they prepare for the upcoming 2008 PAGS sea son!

SYNERGY CAPTURE TITLE AT INAUGURAL EVERTON CUP!

The U14 Girls Synergy won the Girls U15 Premier Division at the Everton Cup on July 25-27! The girls were impressive in a 4-0 opening game defeat of Vincent United. They followed-up that victory with an eye-opening 1-0 defeat of the 1994 EPYSA ODP Team. The Synergy guaranteed themselves a spot in the final with a 3-1 win over the U15 TEYSA Charge. The championship game was a rematch vs. the TEYSA Charge, and the girls battled back from a 2-1 deficit to tie the game in the final minutes and send it to overtime. Despite having the better of the play in overtime, the girls had to settle for penalty kicks to decide the champion...and they once again proved their resiliency. Despite falling behind in the penalty kicks phase, the girls eventually won it in the sixth round when Loryn Grieb tipped the deciding penalty kick from TEYSA over the net...setting off a well-deserved championship celebration! The girls played some excellent soccer against quality competition in their opening tournament as a new team and they look to build upon that performance at the upcoming West Chester Summer Classic on August 2-3.
